How to get to Paros

Getting to Paros is easier than you might think! The island is well-connected by both air and sea. If you prefer flying, you can catch a direct flight from Athens International Airport (Eleftherios Venizelos) to Paros National Airport. The flight takes around 35 minutes, and you’ll be greeted by the stunning island views upon arrival.

For a more scenic and adventurous journey, opt for a ferry ride. Ferries depart regularly from the Port of Piraeus in Athens and take approximately 3 to 5 hours to get to Paros. There are also ferry connections from other islands like Santorini, Mykonos, Naxos and Milos making island hopping super easy! Check out Ferryhopper for all the different schedules and prices and to book your ticket.

Once you’re on Paros, local buses, taxis, and rental cars are readily available to transport you to your desired destination on the island.

I hired a car with Auto Union, which offered the best price, and I was happy with the car and their services. Personally I would recommend hiring a car at least for one day, as it it so much easier and faster to explore with the car.

However if you have a lower budget, and are more flexible on time then the bus service is pretty good on Paros. I recommend purchasing your bus tickets in advance at the bus terminals in Parikia and Naoussa or from one of the mini-marts in the beach towns in order to save money. Tickets range from €1.80 to €4.00 depending on the distance. Tickets can also be bought on the bus from the driver for an additional fee.

Best beaches in Paros (north coast)

1. Kolymbithres Beach

Prepare to be awestruck! Kolymbithres Beach is a geological wonderland that will make your jaw drop. Imagine huge granite rocks, sculpted by nature, forming unique coves and pools. These natural formations create small, secluded beaches where you can enjoy some privacy and tranquility. Rent a sunbed, or lounge on the rocks!

If you’re looking for some adventure you’ll find two water sports centres on the beach, offering a variety of activities including windsurfing, mini sailboats, kayaks, and SUPs.

Kolymbithres Beach is one of the best beaches in Paros, as well as an amazing instagram photo spot, and is one of the top things to do in Paros! It is only a 15 minute drive from Naousa, or if you’re travelling by public transport you can get a boat from Naousa.

2. Monastiri Beach

Nestled on the northern coast of Paros, Monastiri Beach, also known as Monastery Beach, is found just outside the tranquil and unspoiled haven of Paros Park. With amenities like sunbeds, umbrellas, and a fantastic beach bar and restaurant, Monastiri Beach offers comfort and a chance to savor delicious Greek cuisine while gazing at the azure sea.

I’m including this beach as a lot of my friends recommended it, however when I went in June I found the sand to be quite a muddy/gravely texture, and there was no empty sand space so you have to rent a sun-bed. Therefore it wasn’t one of my favourite beaches in Paros. But I think the beach quality changes depending on the month/weather.

3. Santa Maria Beach

Santa Maria beach is very nice with sand and shallow waters so it’s ideal for little kids. There’s a large section where you can lie directly on the sand, or you can relax in a sunbed for around €25. There’s also a beach bar where you can grab some snacks and chill out in a hammock.

Santa Maria Beach has a large parking area so you shouldn’t have any trouble finding space. Alternatively you can also easily get the bus here from Naousa.

12. Fanari beach

Fanari Beach in Antiparos is a true slice of paradise just outside of Antiparos town. This beach offers panoramic views of the Aegean Sea and the nearby island of Paros. As well as a few small trees on the beach that you can shelter under. You’ll also find a beach club here with sun beds and parasols, and a restaurant with the most incredible ceiling that moves in the wind. Making it one of the best instagram photo spots in Paros.

It’s located just outside the main town in Antiparos, where the boats come in to, so you could easily walk here if you don’t have a car.

13. Sostis beach

Nestled on the enchanting island of Antiparos, Sostis beach is a true gem and one of the best beaches in Paros. As you make your way down the hill towards this breathtaking spot, the mesmerizing bright blue sea unfolds before your eyes. The beach’s somewhat secluded location ensures a peaceful and uncrowded experience, making it an ideal escape from the bustling tourist crowds. However, you will need your own transport in order to get here.

14. Faneromeni beach

Located on the southern coast of Paros, Faneromeni Beach is an undiscovered paradise away from tourist crowds. With its crystal-clear waters and golden sand, the beach offers a serene and secluded escape. While amenities may be limited, the unspoiled natural beauty and tranquil ambiance make it a perfect spot for relaxation and snorkeling. However again you will need your own transport in order to get here.

15. Sea Caves of Anti Paros

One of the coolest natural features on the island are the Sea Caves of Anti Paros. This is a more adventurous beach in Paros and a popular location for cliff jumping. Make sure to bring your water shoes as the rocks are pretty sharp.

The dirt road there is not in the best condition, so please drive carefully. It is also a steep and slightly precarious hike down to the water, but well worth the view and the swim into the caves.

An easy way to visit the sea caves, and the coastline of Anti Paros is to join a boat tour or rent your own private boat to explore from just 180 euros.

These are just a few of the fantastic beaches waiting for you in Paros. Every inch of this island is a treasure trove of breathtaking beauty and unforgettable experiences.
