Mykonos is one of the most instagrammable and insta famous places in Greece. It’s easy to understand why when seeing the iconic white and grey paved streets lined with glowing white buildings and colourful balustrades. It ‘s a great island for anyone looking to relax, eat well or party. It is what I imagine when I picture Greece, definitely a must visit Greek Island! There are many photogenic places, keep reading to find out the top instagram photo spots in Mykonos.

Top Instagram Photo Spots in Mykonos
1) Happiness
Mykonos Town has a number of cute winding streets that are all super photogenic. One of the most popular photo spots in Mykonos Town is the street leading up to the shop Happiness.
Best time to go: I recommend coming in the early morning in order to avoid crowds sand awkward light/shadow on the buildings
2) Little Venice
As you can guess from the name, little Venice is inspired by the iconic Venice. The cute white buildings fringe the turquoise ocean making for a perfect photo spot. So much so that I even took a photo here on my first visit to Mykonos in 2009 (pre-Instagram)!
There are a number of different instagram photo spots in Little Venice, including Negrita, Bao’s bar and Nice n Easy which I will talk about in more detail below. The walkway in Little Venice is also paved in the iconic Mykonos-way and so make sure to take a snap here too.
Best time to go: It gets quite busy from 4pm onwards so I recommend coming before there. However I would avoid early early morning here as you won’t have any light on the ocean so it will look very dull in photos.
3) Negrita Bar
One of the most instagrammable photo spots in Mykonos is the beautiful Negrita Bar in Little Venice. This bar has pink bougainvillea hanging in the entrance as well as matching pink cocktails too! The bougainvillea is fake so you will find it all year round.
Best time to go: For photos I recommend going around midday – 3pm. This way you can just enjoy a cocktail and snap a picture. You will need to have a reservation if you plan on going after 4pm and there is a minimum spend per person.
4) Nice n Easy
Another photogenic bar/restaurant in Little Venice is the Nice n Easy. If you’re hoping to get a photo sat next to the water then you will need to reserve a table at least a day in advance, or come out of meal times for a drink.
Best time to go: I went at 6pm just for a drink, we didn’t reserve a table however we were fortunate enough to get a sea-side table.
5) Bao’s
Located right on the water edge, Bao’s Cocktail Bar offers drinks, snacks and hookahs. It’s the perfect spot to watch the sunset whilst listening to the waves. The best photo spot in Bao’s is inside with the door or window framing the ocean, or outside on the terrace at sunset with Little Venice in the background.
6) Church with flags
Just next to Little Venice is a square with an adorable church. The 2 large trees and flag bunting waving in the sky make for a perfect instagram photo spot in Mykonos town.
Best time to go: I went 2 hours after sunrise when there was some beautiful back lighting behind the church. However I think you can shoot here any time of day as most people are just walking through this square.
7) Mamalouka
If you love bougainvillea then make sure to check out the Mamalouka restaurant. You will find vibrant purple bougainvillea framing the arch entrance, perfect for a quick snap!
Best time to go: The bougainvillea is in bloom around mid June to end of August. I recommend going then so that you can capture the beautiful vibrant flowers!
8) Avra restaurant
Another instagrammable restaurant in Mykonos Town is Avra. It feels like a secret garden in the middle of the town. The courtyard feels private and secluded and is surrounded by multi-coloured bougainvillea.
Best time to go: I recommend booking a table during high season or going out for an early dinner.
9) Katrins
The vintage door and panel framed with bougainvillea make Katrins restaurant one of the most instagrammable photo spots in Mykonos. This fine dining restaurant is a very tasty spot to enjoy seafood, however make sure to reserve in advance to avoid disappointment.
Best time to go: Come before 9am if you want the tables/chairs out. The bougainvillea’s are usually in bloom June-August.
10) M space
Just around the corner from Katrins restaurant is the beautiful bougainvillea covered shop, M Space. The iconic paved ground couple with the vibrant red flowers makes for a perfect summer photograph.
Best time to go: As it’s just next to Katrins restaurant I recommend going to both at the same time.
11) Cute Mykonos street with turquoise barriers
If you come to Mykonos Town you have to take a photo in the main town. There are two spots that I really love; the street with turquoise barriers and the street with the little shop fronts (see number 13). Both are on the same street, Agiou Efthimiou. You’ll find the cute street with the turquoise barriers to the north of the street, not far from the Hibiscus cafe.
Best time to go: I recommend going in the morning to avoid the crowds.
12) Iconic Mykonos street with markets
Around the middle of Agiou Efthimios street you will find the instagrammable shop fronts on an iconic Mykonos street. It’s definitely a must visit photo spot in Mykonos! I recommend stopping to check out the markets too, and of course buy a little something if you do take a photo outside.
Best time to go: The shops on this street don’t open until around 10am so I would aim for after this time and before 4pm so the streets aren’t too busy.
13) Mykonos Windmills
The windmills are the most iconic feature of Mykonos. Most of them were built by the Venetians in the 16th century, but their construction continued into the early 20th century. They are a must visit if you come to Mykonos. There are a few windmills dotted around the island, with the most famous being found on landmark hill, just next to little Venice.
Best time to go: Although it is definitely busier at sunset (watching the sunset at Mykonos windmills is a major bucket list item!), the light is just perfect too!
14) Kastros
Kastros is the very insta-famous café/bar right next to the ocean. The passageway lined with boho style seating makes for the perfect photo spot in Mykonos.
Best time to go: Come after 9:30am to enjoy a drink on one of their outdoor tables.
15) White church in Mykonos Town
You can’t come to the Greek Islands and not take a photo with a white church! Just around the corner from Kastros is a beautiful photogenic white church making for a perfect photo spot! It’s called Paraportiani Orthodox Church in Google Maps.
Best time to go: I would go in the morning to have the light directly on the church or in the afternoon for some backlighting.
16) Church with red dome
Another beautiful instagrammable church in Mykonos is the Agia Anna Church in the Old Port. This white church with a red dome makes for a very unique photo spot in Mykonos.
Best time to go: Any time of day works! I went around midday but it was cloudy.
17) Mykonos Town Viewpoint
One of my favourite instagram photo spots in Mykonos is from a viewpoint north of the town which gives you a panoramic view of Mykonos and the ocean.
It isn’t an official viewpoint so you won’t find it on Google Maps and it is also a bit of a random walk to get there but I highly recommend going! Look for the Mykonos Town Villas on Google Maps or you can use this link and the map below.
Best time to go: Go around midday to have a nice blue ocean or sunset for a dreamy golden glow.
18) 180 sunset bar
If you’re looking for the perfect sunset photo spot in Mykonos look no further than the 180 Sunset Bar! Located up above the Old Port you can enjoy panomaric views of the island whilst sipping a cocktail.
Best time to go: As the name suggests you should go for sunset. I recommend booking a table about an hour before sunset so you can enjoy golden hour too.
19) Votsalaki Resort
Just a 15 minute drive out of Mykonos Town is the very instagrammable Votsalaki Resort. I stayed here for 4 nights during my time in Mykonos and it was the perfect place to enjoy both the beach (Paradise beach is just a few minutes walk away) and Mykonos Town (you can get a bus directly there for only €1.80 or a taxi for €25).
Votsalaki Boutique Resort offers a luxurious holiday home with resort amenities. I loved the mixture of traditional architecture and modern design. Each suite and apartment is unique and incredibly photogenic! The infinity pool has amazing sea views and the bar area is the perfect spot to enjoy both breakfast and sunset.
