If you’re planning on road tripping in Western Australia then Esperance is probably on your list, and for good reason! The beaches have bright white sand and incredible turquoise water, you also have the chance to spot some of Australia’s incredible wildlife such as kangaroos and dolphins. Esperance has a number of beautiful beaches right next to the main town, and it’s also the closest town to explore the incredible beaches in Cape Le Grand National Park. In this article I will share the best beaches in Esperance that you must visit.
Esperance has some of the most beautiful beaches in Australia. A few of these are located just next to Esperance town, but the others are about an hour drive away in Cape Le Grand National Park. Please check out the map below to see where they are all located.
One of the closest beaches to Esperance Town is West Beach. It has two large reefs that create perfect surfing waves, and is bordered by greenery and the boulders of Dempster Head. Make sure to stop at West Beach during your Perth to Esperance road trip.
Blue Haven has the most picturesque staircase winding down to perfectly white sand and the trademark turquoise water. The water tends to be a bit calmer here so it’s a great spot to swim.
The most beautiful beach near Esperance Town is definitely Twilight Beach. It’s just a 10-minute drive away along the Great Ocean Drive. It is well known for the iconic rock formation out in the water, which helps to create sheltered conditions, making it a safe beach to swim at.
Just an hour drive east of Esperance is Cape Le Grand national park. Here you will find some incredible beaches plus lots of amazing wildlife! As this is a national park you will need to pay an entry fee to enter (make sure to bring cash). This is either $15 per vehicle or you can get a park pass online if you plan on visiting multiple national parks in Western Australia.
My personal favourite beach in Australia was Hellfire Bay in Cape Le Grand National Park. It’s definitely the best beach in Esperance and a must visit! It’s just next door to Lucky Bay but is substantially quieter. Hellfire Bay is also a good place to spot wild dolphins so keep your eyes peeled!
The most famous beach in Western Australia is definitely Lucky Bay in Cape Le Grand National Park. Driving down towards Lucky Bay I remember just going WOW because the water is SO BLUE!
It’s a very long beach and if you’re lucky you might see some kangaroos chilling on the sand! Lucky Bay is a beautiful beach but wasn’t my favourite as cars are allowed to drive along it and this kind of ruins the vibes.
A real hidden gem and lesser known spot is Wharton Beach just an hour drive east of Esperance. Wharton Beach has some of the clearest waves in the world and is very popular with local surfers and paddle boarders.
The most popular place to stay in Esperance is the Esperance Chalet Village near the main town. Their chalets are super cute and instagrammable and the prices start from around 100 AUD.
If you have a campervan or camping equipment then you might want to book a camping spot within Cape Le Grand National Park, there is one right next to Lucky Bay.
