2) iBE (International Beauty Expert) – hair salon on the Champs Elysées

Nicole Pembroke is a Californian native living in Paris. She established iBE, a luxury hair salon on the Champs Elysées, to help bring Hollywood to Paris! 3) Cook’n With Class – French Cooking School in Paris

Cook’n With Class is a French cooking school in Paris that runs cooking classes in English with experienced chefs. Take part in a macaron class or learn baguette baking. They have an array of different cooking classes from 1/2 day to multi day experiences.

4) Le Paris Noir – Guided Tours of Black Paris

Founded by Kevi Donat in 2013, Le Paris Noir, also known as Black Paris Walks, offers guided tours (in Engish or French) of Black Paris. Enjoy a walk through the streets of Paris whilst learning more about Black history and culture. Learn about the rise of the global Black culture in the Latin Quarter and Saint-Germain or see the evolution of immigration in Paris and its diverse African community in Pigalle. The walks are available either as private tours or as open tours (in collaboration with Explore Paris).

5) Sikagato – gluten & lactose free cakes

I had the pleasure of meeting Murielle earlier this year, she’s a pastry chef specialising in tuber flour and the entrepreneur behind Sikagato. Sikagato makes gluten-free and lactose-free cakes using tuber flour. The tuber flour is made from produce (sweet potato, manioc, banana) coming from a mixture of African and Caribbean countries. You can order some of Murielle’s tasty cakes by contacting her on Instagram, she delivers within the Ile de France.

6) Librarie Présence Africaine – Bookstore in Paris

One of the most iconic Black-owned business in Paris is the librarie Présence Africaine, an African publishing house and bookstore in the latin quarter in Paris. It was founded by Seneglese-born Alioune Diop in 1947, to publish some of the best known Francophone African writers of the 20th century. The journal was highly influential in the Pan-Africanist movement, the decolonisation struggle of former French colonies, and the birth of the Négritude movement. 7) B&A Rhum – Cocktail and rum creator

B&A Rhum was founded by Béa, a cocktail and rum creator from Madagascar. Béa has developed her own alcoholic and non-alcoholic cocktails made with organic fruit and vegetables. Contact Béa via Instagram for tastings, private sales, or to hire her to barmaid your event with her products.

Féerie Florale is a flower shop in the 12th arrondissement near Picpus. They sell a range of potted plants and beautiful bouquets.

11) Café Dapper

Cafe Dapper by Chef Loïc Dablé is a luxurious traditional African restaurant near the Champs Elysées in Paris. It’s located within the Dapper Museum, a place dedicated to Sub-Saharan Africa, the Caribbean, and its diasporas.

12) Waly Fay

Waly Fay is trendy high-class restaurant in the 11th arrondissement, offering a mix of West African and Caribbean cuisine. On their menu you will find a range of seafood dishes, tasty marinated chicken, plus some twists on traditional African meals. It’s easy to understand how Waly Fay made it into Time Out’s list of the 50 best restaurants in Paris!

13) Le tricycle

Le tricycle is slightly different from the other restaurants listed here as it is in fact a vegan food bike in Paris. They offer tasty vegan hotdogs as well as a mixture of African cuisine at very reasonable prices.

14) Gumbo Yaya Chicken and Waffles

Gumbo Yaya is an American South-inspired restaurant owned by Lionel Chauvel. They serve soul food like chicken and waffles and seafood gumbo. I’ve been here a couple of times and definitely recommend it (especially if you love a mixture of sweet and savoury!).

15) O Petit Club Africain

O Petit Club Africain is a Senegalese restaurant in Puteaux (just outside Paris). They serve perfectly spiced, authentic African dishes, in a warm and trendy setting. On the menu you will find traditional African dishes such as Theboudienne (national dish of Senegal) and Yassa chicken.

16) Black Spoon

Black Spoon was the first African food truck in Paris. Run by Fati Niang, she offers quality Halal street food using organic produce. On the menu you will find Mafé (beef in a peanut sauce), Yassa chicken (curry) and Tiep bou Dienn (a grouper filet) served with either rice or vegetables.

17) By Natacha Baco

By Natacha Baco is a creative fashion brand founded by entrepreneur Natacha Baco. They create feminin, sensual and chic clothes and accessories using bold colours and unique prints.

18) Maison Chateau Rouge

Maison Chateau Rouge is an African fashion boutique in Paris. Using wax based textures they create clothes that celebrate the traditional African dress in a more contemporary spirit.

Sakina M’sa is a fashion designer of Comorian origin, the founder of Front de Mode and creative director of her own brands, « Sakina M’Sa » and « Blue line ». As a supporter of sustainable fashion Sakina uses recycled materials in her fashion designs, creating colourful and exotic pieces.
