How to find the secret rock pool in Fuerteventura

One of the most beautiful photo spots in Fuerteventura is this natural rock pool near Puerto del Rosario. The water is crystal clear and the pool is bordered by these dark volcanic pillars. It’s a great place to chill out for a few hours and take some photos. The exact location has quite a generic name on Google Maps so in this article I will show you how to find the secret rock pool in Fuerteventura.

How to find the secret rock pool in Fuerteventura

Step 1 – Find the rock pool on Google Maps

The secret rock pool seems to have a few different names on Google Maps. On mine it’s labeled as “Piscina natural’ (natural pool), and is found just a 15 minute drive south of Puerto del Rosario in Castillo Caleta de Fuste. If you can’t find the rock pool in Google Maps then you can search for Playa del Castillo, or check out the map below.

Step 2 – Drive to the parking near Avenue Maritima

As the natural pool is quite out of the way you will need a car to get there. You can drive pretty close to the rock pool and park just off the road on Avenue Maritima.

Step 3 – Walk over the rocks to the pool

The final step to find the secret rock pool in Fuerteventura is to head over to the rocky area as marked on Google Maps. The natural pool is located to the north (left hand side), and is fairly easy to spot, although you will need to climb over the rocks in order to see it. If you’ve parked on Avenue Maritima, it should only take you a few minutes to get there.

Best time to visit the rock pool

If you want to swim in the rock pool and capture the best photos you will need to come for low tide. If you come when the tide is higher the pool will be submerged in the ocean, and there will be dangerous waves crashing into the rocks.

You can check the tide times for Puerto del Rosario online in order to plan your visit. You want the low tide to be as low as possible (ideally under 0.5m) to ensure the best conditions for visiting the pool. I would also choose a sunny day if possible as it makes a big difference to the colour of the water.

The natural pool is quite a popular swimming spot with locals so I recommend going an hour before low tide so that you have some time to enjoy the natural pool without any crowds.

I hope you enjoy your time at this beautiful natural rock pool in Fuertevenura. The water is cold but so clear and nice to relax in! Definitely one of the top things to do in Fuerteventura.
