9 Most Instagrammable Photo Spots in Monopoli, Puglia

Monopoli is a super cute town in the region of Puglia in southern Italy. It is bordered by a 16th-century Castle of Carlo V and the Adriatic sea. In the old town you will find baroque style houses and weaving streets to get lost in as well as the beautiful Monopoli Cathedral. If you’re planning on road tripping around Puglia you have to add Monopoli to your itinerary! Here are the most instagrammable photo spots in Monopoli that you need to check out! They are all really close to each other so you can easily visit them all in one day.

Most instagrammable photo spots in Monopoli

1) Via San Vito (white building with cacti).

The most instagrammable street in Monopoli is by far Via San Vito, located just at the opening of the Old Town near the Bellavista Suites. What is so great about it is that there are several different angles to capture it which each time make it look like a completely different street!

My favourite angle to capture it is from the side showing just the white wash walls and green plants of this building (in contrast to the stone buildings just opposite!)

2) Via San Vito (house with potted plants)

Another great instagrammable photo spot on via San Vito is the house with potted plants. This house is located just opposite the side of the church mentioned in photo spot 3.

Below you can see a different angle of the same street, with the cute house to the left and the church to the right! A local fruit and veg vendor was doing his rounds whilst we were taking pictures and kindly offered us some grapes as a prop!

3) Church of Saint Vitus Martyr (Via San Vito)

Another instagrammable photo spot in Monopoli is the church of Saint Vitus Martyr, an adorable small chapel made of stone. The church is also found on Via San Vito, just opposite the white washed walls.

4) Via San Giovanni

Just around the corner from Via San Vito is Via San Giovanni. Here you will find more whitewashed walls and plants as well as another cute stone church with a blue door.

5) Basilica of the Madonna della Madia (Monopoli Cathedral)

Another instagrammable photo spot in Monopoli is capturing the Basilica of the Madonna della Madia (or Monopoli Cathedral). You can even try capturing it from above! Just be sure to check out the current drone laws for Italy.

6) Porto Vecchio

In the middle of Monopoli’s Old Town you will find the super photogenic Porto Vecchio. Where you’ll find plenty of blue rowing boats bobbing in the sea, surrounded by rustic baroque style buildings.

7) Spiaggia Cala Porta Vecchia

I was told by a local that Monopoli is well known in the area for it’s beaches. Many locals from the neighbouring town of Polignano come to Monopoli to enjoy their many beaches.

The spiaggia Cala Porta Vecchia is just outside Monopoli’s old Town and is the perfect photo spot to capture a mixture of beach life and the walls of the Old Town.

8) Bellavista Suites

Not only is Monopoli super cute but it has instagrammable hotels too, which are available for a good price!

My favourite was the Bellavista Suites located in the Old Town on none only than the super instagrammable Via San Vito! They have a rooftop pool which is perfectly decorated with major boho vibes and views over the Adriatic Sea. It made me feel like I was in Greece and Italy at the same time!

9) Playa Del Mar

Just a 10 minute walk south of Monopoli’s old town you’ll find another super instagrammable (yet affordable) hotel, the Playa Del Mar. An adult-only hotel with minimalstic, marine-themed rooms, and a bohemian style rooftop.

I hope you enjoy your time in the wonderfully charming Monopoli. It is a super cute town and I would urge you to check out the main instagrammable photo spots in Monopoli that I have listed but also to just explore and get lost in the winding streets!
